One tramp notorious for carpet burn is a SuperCat tramp, which is a bigger mesh then most. I have a mesh tramp on my H18 now and don't have much problem, have had vinyl tramps in the past also. But a weekend on a Supercat mesh tramp will have you bleeding unless you are well protected. Thankfully the SC20 boom is high enough you can get under it without dragging across the tramp, unlike a H16 for example. The Supercat tramp will chew your wetsuit up also if you aren't careful.

its easy and fun to make fun of a float at the top of a mast, but
it beats going turtle, even once! and lifetime cat sailors use and swear by them ... i have respect for them... (but they are an easy target to make fun of for sure) -

C'mon Andrew, fess up. What was so heinous that you had to change your name?
Did you undergo a sex change operation, come out of the closet? Ex trying to hunt you down for 1/2 your Cat?
I'm open to dialog with others no matter what their leanings, hell I wish 80% of men were g.a.y, just think the women would HAVE to fight over the rest of us!
Now, the thought of you trying to sail your cat as a monohull is funny, in a sick sort of way.

Hear ya bud! But I liked the hobie bob and pink mainsail theory better! Not that there's anything wrong with that. :)

This reminded me that my h16 had a hound on the boom. i think it was for a boom vang. That thing took out a few crew members and even the skipper (me) one time... -

HaHA Andrew, BUSTED!
You have to be careful, many employers also utilize monitoring software, to keep track of where employees surf. Getting caught can be a career limiting event.
Hey, I'll take you up on your offer of those little springs for the cam cleat. My traveler cleat wouldn't hold yesterday, so we tied it to the tramp lacing,(now I know why I used 1/4" dyneema!) so that it had about 8" movement from center. The wind was 25 mph, as recorded on the buoy just down the bay, & the seas were crazy. A strong front had passed & the waves were 3', from two different directions. When they meet you get 4+' vertical waves, sometimes only a foot or two apart. I couldn't believe how the boat emulated a mechanical bull. We still went nearly full power, I'm amazed nothing broke, both hulls were under water at times, right up to the tramp, rooster tails off the main beam. We both got washed off the hull while trapped out, twice, it's quite a gymnastic event to attempt to head up when you are both overboard being drug by the harness! My buddy is yelling "head up" - Fool,I would if I still had hold of the tiller. "Release some power" - can't man, don't have the main sheet either, hang on, it's still cleated, I think we can save it.
That was my 33rd day on the boat this summer, & the wildest ride ever. Technically we never dumped. In one crazy wave set, combined with that of a large boat wake, & a sudden drop in wind, we slow motion flipped, INTO the wind. We both went off the windward hull as it went over, but just as the I was thinking, damn we have to right it & the mast was horizontal about 4' off the water, a gust hit & flipped the boat upright. We were still attached by the hooks, & scrambled aboard, hunted down lines & blasted off again. I'm still stiff this morning.
I'll send you a PM & some cash for a couple of those springs, can't find them here..
