Hey guys, i'm new here so i'm sorry if i don't explain this as good as i should.
I was taking my P16 out today and a wave caught it, i lost my grip on it and the rudder dropped and got jammed in the sand. It snapped the casting & the bolt going from the casting through the top of the rudder ripped out through the top, splittting the rudder down about 5 inches.
Is this repairable?
Or should i just buy another?
any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
thanks.
Liam.
Btw, I learned from my mistake!
Damaged rudder, repairable?

Yeah, it's repairable, with some REALLY good fiberglass/gel-coat work.
If you are just a recreational sailor, just get it repaired,
but if you are a racer, i'd buy new ones...Just my opinion.

If you do not have the good epoxy already your cost will be about the same maybe more to get the small size West Systems with pumps and filler you will spend $100 plus your time repairing but its good to have epoxy if you are into sailing glass boats. So if you do not have epoxy already you might check with Rick Bliss at New England catamarans and see if he has a rudder. You might just want to buy one since the rudders are a high load part and your repair may not last long.
