I have a 25 foot Hobie Cat that was abandoned on my property many years ago. I would like to know whether it would be worth someone's time to fix up. It is sitting on a trailer. The top surfaces of the fiberglass pontoons appear to be "broken down", meaning they make a cracking sound when I press down on them with my hand, and the material seems to be more pliable than it should be. Hmm, unlikely it is a Hobie if it is 25 ft long. I believe the longest cat they ever built was 21 ft. That is REALLY big for any beach cat (they usually top out at 20 ft). It is likely an old C Class cat like those used in teh Little Americas cup. Those are 25 ft long and 14 ft wide. If that is the case it would be super rare to have one and certainly worth looking at especially if you have all the parts!!
Sounds like some delamination on the top of the hulls, a common problem for catamarans that are stored for long periods of time outside and uncovered. It can be fixed but it is a pretty big job.
If the sides of the hulls are still intact and all the parts are there it would probably be worth it to restore it. Especially if it is indeed a C cat. Take some pics and post them! There are lots of people here who would be interested in seeing it and we can help you futher with identifying it.

start with where you are in the world
next state if the boat comes with a trailer or not, if yes, what condition is the trailer?
from there is the boat complete? if you think it might be unroll the sail and tell us of any markings on it, eg. if it's a hobie 21" it's likely to have something like that on the sail along with a sail number, if it's a 25' c-class cat then it is likely to have a "C" on the sail
after that photos or link to similar boat would be very helpful

next the width would help and the condition of the rudders and daggers, are they varnished wood or frp etc.
whatever it is someone is bound to want it or parts of it but 1st they'll need to know if you are in newport or new zealand
