My centerboards are pretty banged up. There are large chips in the trialing edge and the bottom of one is split. For the chips can I just use a marine filler? Should I use the filler with hair strands in it for added strength?
As far as the split can I pour in some epoxy and clamp it back togther while it cures?
I'm new to fiberglass repair, thanks.

I would dig out all that loose stuff then use epoxy with strengthening filler (short strand or other). Marine Tex is not for that job. If enough shape is lost, you may need to build it up with glass mat.
In that case, Cut a piece of soft plastic or cardboard to tape to one side as a mold, then wax it (mold release), use that as your backing while you work on one side to rebuild the shape. Do the other side. Lots of sanding.
Don't use marine tex. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=je-IGeB5VAQ
