Dredging up this thread 'cause I'm headed to DI this Saturday for a week. We'll be staying in a house at the south end of one of the side streets (closest to the Gulf). Had the same house a couple of years ago and getting the boat to the beach was fairly easy.
Any updates on beach launching? Rider: What did you find when you went down? Any news, Butch?
Thanks all!

Actually we ended up changing our destination as my in-laws who we were traveling with checked out the places we were going to rent back in may and found out they weren't going to meet our needs. So we scrambled to change venues and wound up staying at at the Spinaker in Perdido Key and wheeled the boat in from Public Beach Access #3 late at night which was right next door.
The place we were looking at was the Sand Bar http://www.dauphinislandb…sland-beachhouse-rentals
I am sorry I couldn't help but would appreciate it if you could post some pics as I would like to visit the area in the future.

that's the king of all multihull sailors(randy smyth).
i went to DI recently for some fun with friends and the beach is really really really deep. (atleast 100 yards on the south side).

I appreciate the offer but we actually wound up at Perdido key this year during the last week in June. Rattlenhum is going to be there this weekend. I bet he would enjoy some company. -

You can launch at DI on the Sound Side. Helpful at high tide becuase of the oyster shell. I rolled over them on 2 peices of pvc. Not bad sailing.
