I am planning to store my H18 mast up at a nearby fresh water sailing club. There are pine trees, birds and other falling stain hazards. What have you done for covering your cat? Should I just breakdown and spend the $$ for a cover?? Do they work with mast up storage?

What we have been using as lately is white shrink wrap material, the heavier one. A friend had a full sized cover and I used it for a template. 3 or 4 of us have done it so far with good results. Total cost to cover a nacra 6.0 with brass grommets (the ones from Hobie with the teeth) under $50. iF YOU DECIDE TO GO THIS ROUTE MAKE SURE YOU ORDER THE SHRINK WRAP TAPE AS WELL AS YOU WILL WANT TO TAPE ANY SEAMS THAT YOU CUT. For example, the slits for the shrouds, bridal wires etc. -

Thank you, do you recall a brand name? May be a dumb question here - I live in Memphis so the summers are hot. Typically shrink film is heat activated. Would this be an issue??
Thanks

I just got a really nice one used that I am altering to fit my boat. That being said, what I have done for many years is simply to use an extra large tarp. Cut slits for the mast and wires and dress the cuts with tarp tape. Add some velcro tape to make it zip up and a few bungies to hold it on. It will only last a couple of seasons but at about $40 total and a couple of hours it works fine.

No it will not be an issue, just use the white instead of the blue
There was enough of us to share the cost of the roll, six boats, and tape and it worked out to $31 each
