Never mind the lack of PFD or the wide open ocean. You couldn't run an ad with a 12 year old girl in this day and age!! :)
Actually my only complaint with Phil Berman's book is the junk in that pic. The lack of a PFD isn't so disconcerting when you realize that the 70's hair spray waterproofed the hair and allowed those massive fros to act as buoyancy aids. Actually they are even better than that because if you were unconcious the would roll you so your head is out of the water. Even better they offer significant protection for the noggin so an errant boom couldn't render you unconcious! :) Too bad the guy never heard of underwear (or even a speedo **shudder**)!
