I just bought a P16. It has 5 cables connected to the mast. Is the turnbuckle in the front the forestay? And is the forestay what the jib sail zips on to? The cable isn't plastic coated. I think two of the cables are the shrouds with adjustable brackets. I have no idea what the other two cables are. They are attached to the upper forestay. One is coated, one is not. Could these be the trapeze cables? What are the lengths of the trapeze cables? I can't find any pictures that are detailed enough for me to see the connections myself. Any help would be appreciated! -

To stabilize the mast you have 2 side stays, 1 forestay, the forestay on the P16/18 has a turnbuckle and yes, the jib is attached to the forestay using the zipper pocket method. All shrouds/stays connect to the mast at the mast hound (also called mast tang), using a bell shackle. If your P16 has trap wires, these will also be connected to the mast hound on the same shackle, if you only have 5 "cables" then you have single trap setup.
