My husband and I own a Hobie16. We acquired it in a trade recently and are in love with it. It has trapeze wires, but neither of us have harnesses. I was just wondering what type to get...
Money is an issue. Were just a couple of kids (22 and 23). I have been scouring the internet for the best quality/comfort for the least amount of money and it looks like no matter what were spending 150+ each.
However, I found a store about an hour from us that sells Hobie Cats, and Hobie brand Harnesses. Has anyone used these?? Can I get some reviews?
I like the idea of being able to try them on as opposed to buying online. But I dont want to get them solely for that reason. They are about the same price as most of the other harnesses I've been seeing.
Any advice would be VERY helpful.
Thanks!
Kasey

have you checked the classifieds here? i found some of the old "diaper"/"butt bucket" styles on ebay for about 35$ each 2 years ago, they work fine for a newbie to learn on. pbeagle on this site sells EVERYTHING for your cat used, give him a pm. good luck!

Question 1, what is you sailing experience? the reason I ask is because the newer you are the less time you will spend out on the wire, then just get what you can afford, don't worry too much about comfort just yet.
Question 2, what ends do your trap wires have?
a) dogbones
b) can't miss rings
c) something else?

I have had great luck with hobie harnesses. You can get some deals on ebay. I have an old school diaper you can have for $30sale shipped. Its not the greatest but not as crappy as those cheap ones on ebay.

Sunjammers in Panama City is the first place I'm going to look. I have a fair amount of sailing experience, but my husband doesnt have a whole lot.
I'm not sure what kind of connections my Hobie has. I will be going out to the boat in the morning for my first sail on it. So I will see.
Has anyone tried the aquata hydro? How did you like it? -

they are good. I know people who love em
your best bet (imho) is go to several stores (including kiteboard stores) and try them on.. .HANG in one you may buy for 10 minutes at least to make sure it's comfy.. they all fit differently
but as stated above... you may not need one (or 2) for a while ... (till you are comfortable with flying a hull)
