Hey everyone,
I just moved to Ft. Lauderdale with my girlfriend after spending the past few years working in the yachting industry down island. One condition I had with my girlfriend upon returning to the states was that I was going to buy a beach cat. Having owning a HOBIE 14 and HOBIE 16 before moving abroad I knew I wanted something bigger, so I went with the HOBIE 18. The boat is a 1982 yellow hull. There were a few soft spots which have since been filled with west system. I was originally going to just plug the holes and go sailing, but now I have decided to take her apart and repaint her.... And as we all know this is not a quick process (especially with all of the rain we have been seeing).
I have photos i;ve been meaning to post and will get them up there sooner or later.
Anyways, just wanted to introduce myself. If anyone in the Ft. Lauderdale area wants to get together and go sailing, or meet up for a beer to talk sailing that would be pretty cool as I do now know anyone in the area.

Welcome to TheBeachcats.com FLLHobiesailor, how do you pronounce that?
Hopefully there are other South Florida beachcats on here that can hook you up.
Have you found all the Hobie 18 fix up stuff in the Technical photo albums? Here's an album about painting a Hobie 18.
