Hi all!
I am living in Virginia Beach and I just have bought a nice 16' feet Hobie and I wanted to know if I need to register it in Virginia and how to do this.
I was planning to store it in Chick's Beach. Do you know if this needs to be notified to somebody?
Thank you!

I think the link above applies to motorboats. There is no registration required for beach cats. There used to be city permits required at the oceanfront beaches. This was done in the heyday (circa 1980) in order to spread them out and not have parking problems on one or two streets. I think you can put your boat anywhere at Chic's Beach. Baylake Beach next door is private so you might run into problems with their civic league. Wherever you put it, tie your halyards away from the mast so they don't bang all night. Sleep deprived residents might cut them. -

Hi Sunvista,
Thank you for your suggestions. You were right, a sailboat doesn't need to be registered unless it is larger than 18 feet.
