I'm thinking of heading to Best Buy tomorrow and pickup one of the GoPro video camera systems. Reviews look pretty good from what I've read. Of you who have experience with these cameras how are you mounting it?
I have GOTTA get some video of me trolling while sailing for ya'll to see. I have flat caught the heck out of fish this year with the last few weeks being the best since I started targeting sharks.
3 weeks ago I had an 8' blacktip (yes, as wide as the boat) next to the boat before he broke free. Last weekend I landed a 5 footer. You should have seen the folks faces on the beach when I came in with the shark in tow on my H16. LOL! He fed 30 people that I know of.
Anybody using GoPro Video camera's to capture some action?

Has anyone tried a different system than the goPro? I am a semi-pro photographer, and I just have a hard time spending that much $ on a fixed focus camera with no zoom, integrated image monitor or exposure control. So, after researching it, I just bought a Sony DSC-TX10, which is advertised as shock proof and water proof to 16' (and gotten good reviews). I figure for my purposes, 16' is plenty since you will need a hotshoe and strobe to use the GoPro at its 180' depth rating due to light fall-off. It has a 16MP CMOS sensor and shoots 1080p HD video. I think the GoPro shoots 5MP stills. I am getting a suction cup camera mount to attach to my cat. I have to go out of town for a week, but I will keep you posted on my progress.

Was wondering if anyone has experience with the Contour HD? These are now available for about $135.

I use the Contour HD. Awesome little unit with a lot of neat features. The video and audio is pretty spectacular with the high res and capture rate. Only problem is if you have a PC that is 2 or 3 years old, you won't have enough processor to render the video properly.
Highly recommended and in my experience superior to the GoPro in form.

~~ GO PROS ROCK~~ I have 7 of them... 4 normal & 3 wide angle.... The 4 I got off of E-Bay (150 bucks) The wides I got from Go pro store.... The 960 you can re-program it to shoot upside down, but your picts or movies will come right side up....... so saying, the only way ya can mount it is upside down... I bought all the mounts, roll cage mt, handle bar mt, tri-pod mt, extendable mt. also a ?? I think it called a quik mount... it extends to 3-4'---that was from Amazon, I should look for it and put the URL up herehttp://www.amazon.com/Qui…8&qid=1313249401&sr=8-35...... I also bought from Go pro some of the other acessy. angle mounts, 2 head mounts came with my orders.... I do trust the mounts that come with them, but I also use Gorilla tape just to be sure. This old man ain't kiddin ya, they do make Gorilla tape-- better than Duct tape.. GoPro just came out with "floaters" so if yer cam falls off,,, well thats why its called "floaters"
I have some stuff on Youtube that I took with GoPro cams... I have like 27 movies up there. I don't have enough footage yet for any sailin movies, but I'am workin on it (S%*T happens)... heres 3 of the movies with the GoPro cams, also when yer up there click on my name and the rest will show up...

I used to be a photographer so I have about 20 camers total... used to roll my own film, a darkroom where I would make up to 11x14 prints and all that other stuff... I just bought a new one from Sony, DSC-HX100V, look it up on Amazon. So far one of the best cams I have.. it also has GPS in it..... I just might have to buy Photoshop next ??? LOL
Well no wind today....... so no action shots
