Ok so I need to take the Hulls and crossbars apart on my H17 so I can take the tramp off for some work and so I can work on the hulls this spring.
I have the 4 bolts out ok and the hulls are loose but the outside will not come off. I do not know exactly how the outside end inserts or is locked in place and I don't want to break anything.
Can you all tell me what the trick to getting this off is?

The trick is to take the tramp apart. There are some aluminum plug things screwed into the bumps in the hull. The crossmembers have to pull back about 3/4 inch to get these out. Then the second hull is easy. Easiest if the boat is on the ground and you have a helper. Then pull the hull straight sideways at a crossmember while your helper holds the other hull. Once you have that one out you can just pull the crossmember out of the hull.
When you put it back together you want to make sure the glass is solid and the screws are tight on those aluminum things. And put anti-seize on the bolts. -

Thanks that helps a lot with visualizing what is going on. I was afraid to pull to much one way and have it be the wrong way.

Glad it worked out for you.
The 17 is my favourite Hobie. I got old and fat and ... never mind. -

I'm all ready old and fat this one will be mostly for my boys. But I am a bit jealous.
