I am considering to use this cleat for the spinnaker halyard on the Nacra 580 sport. Any one any experience with these cleats?

I've used them. They do have a tendency to blow up. Shouldn't be an issue if your not racing.

No direct experience, but have heard numerous stories about them failing.

Thanks, I don't want the spi halyard to fail. I am often sailing with folks new to spi handling, I can't take the risk.

Ron, the Karma sailing Gods are still waiting for you to be the first boat to round the A mark. It will be then that they will blow up your spinlock on the set. The Karma Gods know to engage you when you need it most.
Seriously, I have blow up two in the last year, and have seen many more fail. Most of the more experienced guys have simply moved away from them, as they have learned from there experiences. The cleat can also unexpectedly lock in a heated dowse, causing the skipper to drop a few F bombs. Some folks love 'em, and they are nice when they are working.

I don't have to worry about being the first boat to A mark, I'm still in the "dodge the tug boat stage".
Get it right or you die.
