Does anyone own or could comment about the Treadwell Topper tent that fits on top of a Hobie 16 tramp?

I've never seen or used the Treadwell, but there's one for sale on our local Craigslist;

I once went on a week-long camp-cruise up the Connecticut river on the family Hobie14, using a tarp slung over the boom as our tent. Even jerry-rigged like that it was surprisingly comfortable. Of course I was younger then. :P -

Like tom_gwynn , I have thrown a tarp over the boom (on a P16) and had a marvelous night's sleep, even though it rained.
With the ability to raise the boom on the H16, I imagine you could be very comfy there.

I found an image on the Hobie Forum site but I am unsure how to post it here. If you search under "Camping on a Getaway" there is an image of 2 H-16swith tents on the tramps. Image posted on Sept 19, 2010

I searched for what you said, but didn't see it. Could you tell me what the thread title is?

Very nice setup. Seems like any domed tent sized to fit on the tramp could work.

An option when you bought a new G Cat in the early 80's was a boom tent. Maybe someone can get in touch with Hans and ask him about them. -

The tent seems excessive, if you plan on Sailing and camping and you not attempting the northwest passage, chances are its warm. Toss the main over the boom.

In South Florida the mosquitos will carry you off if you are not enclosed. Probably the same in Michican if its Summer time.
