Got this cleat from spinlock today.
To improve my spi setup for next season.
The front-beam on my p18-2 is "tear-drop" shaped, this is where I want to put the cleat. I need a flat surface to mount the cleat.
Question; is there any pre-fabricated nylon or aluminium
piece witch does the job ? Or need I go to the shed again ?

seems like i remember the cam cletes for the barborhauler on the prindles mounted to the beam on top of a casting that might work for that clete...its round i think and is exactly what your talking about.

is this for your tack line? if so, (IMHO) it is probably overkill, there is no speed savings with a spinlock (esp if you have to lock it down at deck level) all that is needed for a tack line is a regular cam-cleat (get metal teeth, the plastic ones wear out to fast)
if it is for your spin forestay, it's not the right cleat, you need one on a 90* Pivoting lead cleat, and most people mount this on our masts. Up high if yoiu have crew (So they can stand while hoisting, or reativly low if you sail solo and handle your own halyard.
But to answer you, yes i think they do make "stands" to mount these type of blocks on curved beams -

I have problems with my spin haylard catching in the cam cleat when doing retrievals. This is frustrating and slow. Dies the spin lock do a better job preventing this?

I have never had that with my regular ronstan cam-cleat (with a wire fairlead in front of it) but i believe it.. if it can go wrong, it will, esp durring doucing....
Yes a spin lock would prevent this as the entire head of the unit moves (up) when you unlock it. I have a small issue of my spin lock re-locking itself if am not careful durring snuff (because the halyard pulls slightly downward while snuffing) but this would be less likely with a tack line / spin lock on the beam... as it requires a downward pull to lock it again -

find stuff for the older cats over here. Gonna print the picture and try to get it at a regular sailsuply-store or warehouse. If not, I order it from Murrays. There's no heating in the shed...
@ MN3 , it is meant for the 5mm dynema halyard. That's running from the head of the spi sitting in the snufferbag
to a block near the mast-top, from there it runs through a block at the end of the bowsprit, and it goes horizontally through the spinlock cleat. ( still follow me ?) Almost back to the rear-beam , trough the tramp into the snufferbag where it's attached to the retrieving-lines . It is a system my neighbour has on his inter20 nacra and I am copying it because it works very well. The spinlock is pivoting and has an angle of 40 degr upwards on the outgoing side, which is fine because sailing solo, I'll be sitting on my knees while hoisting the spi. (pfff translations) .
The tackline is gonna be exactly as you described with a regular ronstan clamcleat.
Since Damon was so kind to teach me how to post pics, I will when the system is working.

check out what i did with my spi halyard and retrieval line. this has no place to hang up in a cam cleat as i douse.

you may be able to see the halyard going under the tramp to the rear grommet after it goes down into the tramp just behind the front crossbeam. the cleat on the mast is a ronstan RF5 which is about $30.

i shortened my spi halyard by about 30" to give this the right amount of slack. it works great and the crew knows just which line to pull when hoisting or dousing.
