Hobie 14 Class Sails by McKibbin?  Bottom

  • I came across a 1973 Hobie 14 with what appear to be original sails in nice shape (for 40 years old) but was surprised to see a factory patch that said McKibbin McK Sails instead of Hobie Sails.

I have a vague memory that in the early days Hobie used other lofts before taking sail production in house. Can anyone verify?

  • I have also noticed this before on two sets of old sails. So if not factory, they were at least very popular replacements.

  • All early Hobie sails were McKibbin--don't know when change occurred. Pete
