I'm the new owner of an '87 Nacra 5.0. The hiking straps are in need of replacement, otherwise, the tramp is in excellent condition. Per the local sail maker who will be making the repair, he will need the tramp removed. From the Owner's Manual, it shows the forward beam being rotated for installation. Is the reverse the case for removing the tramp as well? Must you drop the mast and rotate the front beam to remove the tramp?
Any direction would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Yes! You have to take the mast down, unbolt the beam (one side and remove the tramp. I got away with just unboltinf one side because I could lift it up enough to get the tramp to slide out of the track. Make sure you wash it off very well before you bring it to him--they HATE sand on things because it ruins their needles. While you are at it, it wouldn't be a bad idea to get him to run new stitching along the places that were stitched in the first place. He will probably want to use a straight stitch, but request that he at least uses a zig-zag stitch, or even better, a zig-zag with a skip stitch. If he has it, use UV resistant thread. -

If the previous owner bolted down the beams BEFORE they installed the beam caps, you may find the track the tramp slide into is compressed, making removal difficult.
He may be able to sew it with the beam attached, though it will be awkward. Other wise, just prise open one end of the beam, you will have to remove re insert tramp from that end.
