Has anyone taken a look at these as possible DIY sail tubes?

Menards has them here:

for about 20 dollars for 12" by 4', so three together would probably be long enough.
Make some end caps -> instant sail tube...

Cool idea, I wonder what they weigh and how they attach to each other? Even the 18 inch ones are less than $50 each. Would probably need to paint them a lighter color if you don't want to create a solar oven for your sails.

The YouTube video shows that they just slide together (they look quite light). I was thinking either PVC glue or liquid nails. Glue one end cap, rig some sort of lock on the other end cap.
I was thinking the 12" would be fine for a main, jib and boom, but do you think the 18" would be better?

They also come in reflective yellow. Might help with the cooking.
I put in a request for a price quote. It's so @#$% hard to get big sewer pipe out here, this may be my best bet. I'm looking at two 12' tubes. (Yeah, the boom on the P-Cat is almost that long...) I'm quoting six 4' x 18" tubes and four 18" caps. I'll let you know what I find.

I think it looks great. I think the reflective only comes in 8 inch size. 18 inch probably won't fit under cats on most trailers but it might on one of mine. Definatley cheaper than most commercial options.
Actually it looks like the reflective comes in 8 and 12 inch and custom colors are available
If you click in Where to buy you find a construction reseller local that carries them. My local Graybar has them as well as some others. Gonna have to looking that.

If you have height issues with 18" pipe, you can always trim off an arc from the full length and replace it with a wooden plank. That would reduce the height and give you a floor.

Plus you could make a divider in the shape of a T with a horizontal plane that crosses the diameter and vertical underneath that spans the radius to the bottom. This would give you 3 sections with a flat spot on top for maybe rudders or something.

I'm offering FREE 18" plastic pipe and nobody want it. I guess if I put price on it it will generate more interest.

Free doesn't mean much if your 500 plus miles away.
