Sorry about the newbie question.
Is it a mistake to leave a carbon mast rigged and up for 4-5 months in the sun and weather? I would take the precaution to bungee any lines away from it to keep them from slapping in the wind while stowed.
I am looking a cat with a carbon mast and just realized that my storage plan is to leave the mast up for the season. Should I reconsider the boat? I am really interested in a light weight boat.
Thanks for any wise council.

I guess the jury is still out but I've had mine up for about 7 years and it's in great shape. Have at it. -

It would be wise to paint it if it is not already painted. Sun will definitely degrade surface otherwise. Pete -

I know the guys in San Diego have been doing this for years and have heard of any problems so far...
And, as Pete noted, you may want to paint it..

Great news... thanks for the experienced comments. I suppose the sun degrades everything over enough time. Sounds like there is no immediate concern. I'll look it sealing it to protect it. pbegle, do you have ant ideas about a paticular product?
I'll keep looking at cats with carbon masts.
Thanks again comrades.
