What are the affects of spinnaker luff tension eg. more tension allows you to reach, less tension for deeper sailing? I'm still a little vague on how this works. Intuitively I would bag the luff for deeper sailing but from what I understand this may not be the case. Still trying to get a solid answer on this one.

less tension will actually allow you to point higher but you loose speed by doing this too
If i am in a place that requires me to point higher (shallows, or being in a restricted area) i will drop the head of my spin 3-4" (&/or my tack line a few inches) and this will let me point higher without my spin luffing (as bad), but t his is slow and at some point so inefficiency you are better off snuffing
