This was found in a box of stray parts with an old Hobie 18. I think it was a mast support, any other guesses?

Definetly a mast support. How do I know? Buddy of mine has one almost identical to it. Keeps the mast off the rear crossmember while trailering -

Yep, mast cradle is what that is. There were bolts that had half moon cuts so they could go into the track and support the mast for on the road.
