My Hobie Miracle 20 experienced some storm damage after Hurricane Sandy...the starboard hull was punctured. The hole is ahead of the front crossbeam on the inside of the hull, above the bottom of the hull. Diameter of approximately 3.5". Any suggestions on this repair? Thanks! -

I once fixed my prindle 18, the boat landed on a fence post and went through and trough, was a lot bigger then 3.5 inches and both sides of the hull, but I fixed it, no big deal. I live in Amityville NY, I think I know you from the race around Shelter Island. My friend's boat, also a Hobie 20, got both hulls totaled but the rest is good except for the tramp, the sails are in very good shape. -

Do some reading on fibreglass repair, lots of info at your fingertips via Google. Lots of threads on this site, use the search function, & look under Albums-Technical.That will get you informed on what you need for materials, & how to go about it. West System has some good info.

Here is a thread, smaller hole but same basic idea for the fix.

Here is an album Christian made to document the fix.

What I did to fix a leak, I ended up grinding a hole about 2" to get rid of the damaged material.

You should be able to fix it for $100, & have plenty of material left over for the next time!
