Just for fun and curiosity, what's the most expensive part, anyone has ever purchased? I'm prompted to ask after a recent trip to West Marine to locate a mast head sheave. Knowing that the one I'm replacing is Derlan, I didn't expect it to be more than $20. After scouring the shelves for a sheave of any design, I came across a Harken internal bearing wire sheave for $60! I couldn't believe that it was possible to markup a product that much. Anyway, I'm curious what others have come across when repairing or upgrading their boats. Obviously, a new set of sails or other large ticket items would take the cake. I'm curious about the parts that caught you by surprise.
Cheers,

Nothing on a sailboat is cheap. Snuffer mid-pole hoops kill me. Nothing like paying $180+ for a fancy toilet seat.

The 2010 run of Hobie 18 hulls were $8000/pair plus shipping, I think.
