Hey Guys/Gals,
Searched for a bit and came up with nothing. Looking for a universal idea/plans/photos of something someone may have tried/opinions on adding a gearbag or forward tramp, or a combination, to the front of my Nacra 5.8. Due to the way my cat is stored and put on water I do not have a beach and need a few items during launch (a few slim fender pads to protect my hulls while I go park the trailer, to name just one). I'll be sailing on a pretty awesome lake this summer and will be having day long and possible multi-day trips, so it would be nice to have some extra space for drybag, and 1 or 2 small fabric coolers. My fat a&& will not be standing on it, just light duty is all I need.
i don't see any photos, or anyone who is running something on anything that isn't a Hobie. Is there something I am missing here? I would think this would be a top "accessory" for weekender/expeditionary/camper sailing with a beachcat. I am not afraid to drill and rivet fasteners to the crossbeam, but cautious about modding the hulls to accommodate fittings.
Curious what is out there and what you guys are doing for extra gear on board.
Thanks in advance

I'm planning to add a front tramp that can be easily removed on my 5.8, along with a pretty cool wing seat setup I'm in the final stages of prototyping this next week for my 5.2's, 5.7, and 5.8.
My thought for the tramp is to machine up some brackets for the bows and fit a 2.25" round spar with the Keder groove so the tramp bolt rope can slide in. The brackets would be made so the spar could be pinned for easy removal. Here is the link to the spar I've found.

Then buy some Keder Rail and rivet to the forward hulls to hold the tramps sides.

Then rivet some fairleads to the forward crossbeam to tie up the back of the tramp.
Slo Sail and Canvas can make up the forward tramp.

I may make up a kit for this and the wing seats if there ends up being much interest.

Do you have a spin pole? I have seen a couple triangle shaped nets that attach to the spin pole and front beam, avoids drilling new holes in the hulls.

I will try to start working on the forward tramp project sometime next week and see what I can come up with as a design. But the wing seats are the first order of business. Hopefully they will be on the hulls the middle of next week and weight tested, then fitment confirmed on the 5.2, 5.7, and 5.8NA.
Thomas, we may need to try and hook up down Mission Bay way. I just made the trip down from Corona yesterday to MBYC and snagged another 5.2 for $100. I've taken my first 5.2's gelcoat all the way down, fixed all the small hull issues, and hope to be shooting the new lime green gelcoat on Saturday. Then on to the 5.8 and new 5.2, but hope to be sailing on the bay shortly.
