The boat was on a beach mooring on Barnegat bay - when the hurricane came (the year before Sandy) the boat was banged into a wench on the mooring post and eventually got hung up on it.
A fiberglass guy is saying $600 to fix - does that sound good?

If you have none of the tools/materials it sounds fair, as long as he rebuilds the tubes, & gelcotes. $600 doesn't buy much labor nowadays.
You could buy the materials required,(& have enough left over to do it again) for not much more than $100.
I guess it comes down to how much you value your time, what your abilities are, & how important cosmetics are to you.

If done right, $600 is most likely fair.

I love DIY but with work and 5 kids....
The boat is done already! The dude does want me to pay him to gelcoat the whole boat next - not sure if that's what I want to do though. F

He picked it up and dropped it off too. Guarantees his work for one year.
We had a beer when he dropped the boat off last night - really nice guy. Wants to gelcoat the Nacra - I'm going to buff it and sail it long before I go that route.
Here's his websire http:// http://www.fiberglassandboatrepair.com/
