Worrel XT Harness VS Zhik T2 Harness  Bottom

  • Long story short, my crotch is getting crushed. it looks like the top of the line harnesses out there are the Worrell XT and the Zhik T2. Both are $250 +, which is a total rip off, but i guess they "have you by the balls" so to speak.

Does anyone have a recommendation for or against either of these harnesses? The Worrell brags about being "crotch free", but some say its too cumbersome. Zhik gear is usually top of the line, so im betting its a nice harness.

Does anyone have either, and has been on the wire for a few hours, and have zero crotch pain?
  • Well, since no one has written yet, I'll give my limited experience with both.
I have a Worrell, I have had spine surgery on my lower back and sail almost every Saturday with it. It is by far the only harness that I have had on that supports my particular condition correctly. I never leave the beach without it on.

A friend has the Zhik T2, It's only retention is velcro, so if you are large I would not chose it. The friend whom has it is close to 300 lbs. He was on the wire and the vercro let him go.

The Worell takes longer to put on, but in my opinion is worth it. Many of the guy's doing the Great Texas 300 are using it as thier harness of choice being on the wire for 4 days at a time.

  • I can relate to Ernie, I too had spine surgery on my lower back so support and comfort were my big issues. I went with the newest Ronstan top of the line full harness. I have only used it for about an hour on the wire but it is by far the most comfortable harness I have ever used. But I have not tried the Worrell or the Zhik. The Ronstan has a ton of back support with embedded ribs and more adjustments then I could have imagined. If you shop you can get it for just under 200. Money well spent. I weigh in at about 220, and I am 6'3". I hope that helps

  • I have them both, however I like the worrel so much that I have yet to open the zhik box and give it a try!

My only complaint about the worrel is that the pressure on my legs tends to cramp up my legs when just sitting on the boat after a few hours.

  • I have the XT also. Same deal older guy with bad back. I would recommend it to any one. I am over 250 and it was the only harness I found that fit.

I have no experience with the Zhik and have idea if it is better or not. We need people who have had both which is apparently rare. HTH, Richard.

  • I have a Worrell and it is the best. Unfortunately I am not sure if they make it anymore, just sent an email to the manufacturer.

We tried on a bunch of harness at the beginning of the season. Not a huge fan of the Zhik T2 harness personally but I know and have sailed with gentleman that love them. We settled on the Magic Marine Pro Harness, and the Magic Marine Ultimate looks about as close in design as the Worrell available.
  • yea i cant find anyone selling the worrell one anymore, think its discontinued. im gona go with a majic marine one, hopefully that helps "the boys"......speaking of boys, way to go Team Oracle! remember, you're never out of a race until you pitchpole and snap your spin pole, until then, race on!
  • I have a worrell i'd be willing to part with.
