i have a question for you all: what holds the screw that secures the forestay bridle tang on a hobie 14? i would like to install a crosspiece between the hulls. does anybody here know about this?

I'm not sure what you are asking? The bridle is attached to a hole in the Hobie 14 deck lip, which is solid fiberglass right there.

Damon: I think the newer 14 bow tangs are as you describe (like the 16), but the older ones like mine are a eyestrap thingy with four screws sort of in the middle of the front part of the bow.

They encourage you to keep a couple of the screws in at all times so that, if it's loose, it doesn't fall off inside the hull!

mine has a single bolt holding the tang. there are no missing bolts. i guess that the backing plate is similar.
boat progressing along fine. winter is almost here.
