I recently bought a Nacra 500 and at one point will need a newer set of sail. I was wondering if the 5.0 sails would fit, just that there are more used 5.0 sails on second hand market.

I don't think the jib would as the 500 sheets from the front beam and the 5.0 from the hull area.

if no one can give you a quick answer
you could find the texel rating spreadsheet
and probably work out from that if the main was the same size
and you could spend some time google image searching to see how close they looked

Just looking on both sails, they apear to be of similar size but cut differently. N5.0 looks wider and the clew is about a foot aft from front cross beam. N500 looks longer and narrower.
If that was me, instead looking for the older type of sail to replace the newer, I would start saving money and buy new and original.
Can you show us your new boat?
Disclaimer: the yellow N500 is not mine, I only wish I had it

New mainsail for 500 is around 1500 euros, one dealer has a new 5.0 main for sale for 750 euros, making it interesting should it fit. New jib is about 450 euros, have to take the sails to a sailmaker for an estimate on repair cost and then decide wich way I will go.
I will take some photos of the boat when I get her looking a bit more decent. So far the only thing I have done is taking off all the stickers the previous owner had put on. I will do some repainting on the hulls. Rudders need some work to make the sleeves snug and more solid, the uppermost hole has some damage on it. The tips have been damaged also, so will need some attention and then they get new topcoat. I'm going to make a photo album when I have the chance, as there will be more questions coming up.

I wouldn't buy the conventional (5.0) sail but the square top (500). If money is an issue, maybe get a cheap used 5.0 main while you save money.. and then sell it for the same money on ebay. -

The mains should be interchangeable. The mast is the same length so it should work. They just modernized the sailplan.
I'm looking for a 5.0 or 500 main also for my 5.2 to convert to boomless.
