Owner says its 19 feet, which would mean its a 5.7 but I see a boom which I think only came on some of the 5.0's. Hard to tell size from pics. Looks like a 5.7 to me, but owner has not responded with details. I guess a boom could have been added
Is this a Gcat 5.7 or 5.0

Really hard to tell but I'm leaning towards it being a 5.0, reason being that to add a boom to a 5.7 would involve too much work for the average wanna-be-sailor. A boom of the exact length would have to be sourced and it would have to have the correct goose-neck to fit the sail slot. The clew of the 5.7 has a tab that extends off the foot of the sail with grommets for adjusting the position of the main blocks, cant see that in the pic clearly, so really hard to tell. Unless the current owner measured correctly, 5.7 m converts to 18.7 ft.

I have a GCat 5.0, and this looks more like a 5.0 to me, but then again there aren't any closeup photos. One thing, no matter which it is, you want to check the height of the mast before you purchase. There were two mast heights. One for rental purposes, and one that is taller for individual sale. If you want a measurement of what the mast should be, let me know and I will measure mine, or I have been told that somewhere on this site, there is a place that is a "GCat treasure trove" which you can look up the hull serial number and identify the boat. It also has the stock specks for the boat. One other thing I noticed is the sail number, if this is the original sail number, (1142) I don't think they made that many 5.7s, this also points to a 5.0. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the responses. The owner has been unable to tell me much so I am abandoning the prospect as I intended for it to be a parts boat for my 5.7. Glad I didn't drive 2 hours to find out is was a 5.0.
