US $700 for a compass is steep in anyone's book. This is a serious racers tool.
If you are racing and want this kind of input while doing so on a beach cat, look at the Speed Puck. It will tell you of wind shifts in real time or give you constant speed, while recording your path in its GPS memory to sort out later. And at US $330 you could still afford those neon spreader boots you have been looking at...
