I had an email from the Commodore of a beachcat group asking if TheBeachcats.com could link to and help promote their group.
Since the info I sent would apply to any beachcat fleet, event, or group of friends and the "prime directive" of TheBeachcats.com is to help grow the sport I'll share the list here. If you do these things I guarantee your group will be stronger and grow.
There are several things you can do on the site to promote your group and it’s events.
1. Add each event with detailed information to the calendar. You can add an event as soon as you have the basic info, date, title, description, and contact info. Then come back and add the NOR and sailing instructions as they are available. You could link to these detailed calendar entries from your Events page entries.

2. Start a separate discussion topic in the Events forum for each event. Stimulate anticipation of the event by having your active members post in the topic and use it as the organizing point and to answer questions from potential entries. Be sure and assign someone to come back to the topic after the event with a report on the event and results. Announce the next event and then start a new topic for the next one.

3. You can submit an article about your event or your group which I would publish on the front page.

Then be sure and come back after the event with a wrap-up story to make anyone who missed it mark it on their calendar for next year.
4. Your fleet can have its own photo albums in both the “Beachcats Regattas” and “Beachcats Groups” albums and your individual members can have a personal album in “Member Personal Albums”.

Groups http://www.thebeachcats.c…ictures/?g2_itemId=12376

5. Add a link to your site in the Links Directory

Hope this helps, if you can get someone in your group to be responsible for each of the above items then it’s not much for each one to take care of.

Thanks Dave, I appreciate it.
If anyone has ways the promote local sailing whether using this site or not, please add ideas.
One thing I forgot is that local groups can use the Local Sailing forum for their area to make connections and recruit members. Announce your activities there and watch for "I'm new to the area" posts and take them under your protection.
