This is a pretty good use of pool noodles since those kind of stern pads can cost a surprising amount. But those don't take much pressure at all, they are just used by racers while the boat is on cat trax to prevent even the smallest scratches on their hulls.
Hobie 18 sailors don't use those diapers.

I use those on my newly painted catamaran when rigging on the beach (imron paint)
i don't use them on either of my gelcoated cats (they are not close to mint shape)
