I recently bought a P18-2 and both centerboards are separating down the middle on the end with the handle and centerboard lock bearing. This causes the centerboard to jam (due to the increased width of the centerboard) before it is rotated fully up/down to the point that the lock bearing puck never engages in the well. I have tried to remove the centerboard lock bearing to see if replacing the screw and tightening it back down would clamp the two halves back together. Unfortunately the screw is stripped, so I will have to get a screw extractor tomorrow.
Questions:
1) Is there anything I can do to fix the centerboard where it is separating? (I'll try to get a picture tomorrow to help illustrate the problem)
2) I can't find much about how the lock bearing works online. I did see something about it being spring loaded, is that what the centerboard spring kit (set of 4) is on murrays? http://www.murrays.com/56-1027.html
3) I figured I would go ahead and order new lock bearings and screws since they are cheap, do I need the centerboard spring kit?
Thanks in advance for any help!

You might get way with putting 2-part slow-cure epoxy inside the cracks and clamping them in a vise. It is hard to say without a picture to show the condition of the centerboards. Try to post pics if you can. There are a few other options to try before looking for replacements.

There is a thread here by MN3 who fixed a separating CB on his Mystere. I also did one on my Mystere. Pry it apart & set in front of air condition duct for a couple of days to dry everything out.
Mix some epoxy with microfibre additive, leave is somewhat runny. Pour in, let is sink fully into split, then clamp back into shape.
Just be sure to clamp it to the original thickness, or you'll never get it to work right.
Here are a few fixes;
