Race is May 7th.
I'm going in my H18. I know there will be a few other H18s as well. Will be my first year. Based on the previous registration list there's usually a bunch of cool stuff. Looks like the race listing on the website still has last years info but the notice of race is accurate.

Hobie 16's and Hobie 18's are a few of the catamaran classes that we have a good turnout for, at least enough for their own class (5). I will be there in my Nacra 5.2 this year. See you there.

I just hope there's another 18 or similar that is as slow as me so I have someone nearby to compare to. If they all just disappear off into the distance I'm just gonna end up being slower haha. -

This year there is one start. This race has been a pursuit start for many years. They are going back to one start with correction after the race. Clean up your cat and come on out for a fun event.

Just saw G cat Hans is going to be there. That's one cool old man, I've sailed with him before at the Dunedin Causeway. He was out a few miles away from us one moment and the next thing I knew I turned around and he was 10 feet off my stern. Dudes a silent killer -

He is a ratings killer for sure.
talented sailor, was also a champion free diver in his day.
I sat around a table of old-timers at the Cedar Key small boat festival (several years ago) and they didn't know I was friends with Hans. They told a story that they were at a free diving competition and Hans didn't come up with the rest of the divers. they waited several minutes and were just about to call the coastguard when Good ole'' Hans comes floating up (he won the contest too), minutes longer than anyone else (he's not a very tall man either)

Don't want to jinx it but the forecast has gotten much better. About the same as Friday which is nice since I'll be out all day Friday so will be able to try and dial in some settings for Saturday. -

Do you have a link to any other photos or an album from the finish? I saw the race boats running around with a camera during the race. Wasn't sure where they were going to post those. -

Hi all,
It was great to meet Hans Geisler at the race this weekend as I am a G-Cat owner and big fan of his boats. I was able to meet many other fine sailors as well.

Some quick observations on the race:
1)Very exciting start with 80 boats of all shapes, sizes and capabilities all starting on a relatively small starting line.
2)Tough wind conditions with unfavorable wind direction but good speed. Only 38 finishers of 80 entries.
3)Very well run event. 63 years of trial and error have worked out all the bugs in this event.
I am all ready making a plan for next year.
