Hello all first post here! It has been many years since I have sailed but now I have a son who has decided sailing is his thing. I picked up a used older prindle 16 and now the journey begins. I'm looking forward to getting it out as soon as I can. I'm sure I will need some help and advice considering it's been almost 20 years since I've been in the wind -

Haha, you and I are in the same boat so to speak, only mine is a Hobie 16. I haven't sailed in many many years, but I my Hobie also because my 13 year old son showed interest. Can't wait until I have a weekend off from work when we can hit the lake. Welcome aboard!!!!

Slam rudders down on trailer & with two hands at bottom, should be med strength jerk to get out of casting. Make sure zipper is good on jib (if you have one) and make sure battens are snug in mainsail. Tighten any slop in tiller xbar and tiller extension. If it has 1/2" mainsheet, cut it in half & use for righting line. Then get 7/16" or 3/8" mainsheet. Check plastic rollers on traveler & if missing or broken, get new one from Murrays. Use 3/8" line for traveler control. Mission Bay is a good starter place although South Bay out of Chula Vista Marina is better for wind. Have many parts for Prindle and we have good wind here daily in Big Bear with nine Prindles on the beach mast up. Pete -

Quite a bit of play in the rudder casting and the blade. It's worse on the starboard side. Is there a shim that is missing maybe? They snap down nicely and the traveler is in good shape mainsheet is upgraded. There is no other play in the helm. I will taking it out for its first sail this Saturday in mission bay! Thanks for any advice!
