Prindle 16 mast rotation  Bottom

  • Hi all, the rotation stops on the mast base of my P16 are pretty badly worn, so the mast swings a lot farther than intended. I may replace the base to fix it, but an alternate idea would be to install a rotation control arm. I don't know much about these. Can anyone offer an opinion on which solution to go for? And, if the control arm is preferred, which type? Thx

  • Easiest fix is to file stops so they are flat and at 90 degrees and then get a piece of SS the same size drill a hole in the center of the piece and screw into the stops

The mast base for a boat with mast rotation and one without are different the one for a mast rotation does not have any stops on it
  • The Prindle 18, 18-2, and 19 have a wishbone that attaches to the mast and rigs into the boom.. here is a pic of the rigging

I think the Hobie 17 & 18 use the same one.... but you nay have an issue finding one.... unless you already have one.

Personally I would go with a new mast base from Murrays... some silicone along with three rivets and your done... http://www.murrays.com/56-6005.html
