Hey
I bought my first hobie 16 last autumn and sailed it couple of times and everything was fine. As there were some scratches on rudder blades I thought that it would be wise to repair those during the winter (fill them up with gelcoat and grind smooth again). Now when I took the boat out to the sea first time one of rudder blades broke right under rudder cams. First I thought that those things might happen and didn't mind. When I took my hobie out for second time other rudder blade broke from the same place. Might there be something wrong how I istalled rudders back to the boat or what might be the problem? Thanks in advance.

They probably were just old rudders, if the boat was a 1988 they were already 20 years old. What can you buy that lasts longer than that?

Just happens to old rudders. Especially the cheap vynl ones. I had 2 snap on my old H16. Consider purchasing new high end ones... they will sail better too!
