Well, after a full winters thought, (who says procrastination is a fault?), I finally got around to this project. Most of the free time, ( and money), this spring has been wasted on a total kitchen tearout & rebuild at one place, rebuild of a 40' Trex deck, & taking the wife on a long promised vacation to Japan.
Last week it struck me that there are specialized products, concocted for the sole purpose of sealing & adhering to aluminum.
What's more, they are already sitting in the shop.
First is a tube of PL Gutter Seal, made to seal joints in aluminum eaves-troughs.
Second, a 1 Litre pail of an elastomeric sticky white glop like substance, made for sealing the seams on the AL roofs of motor homes & other Rv's.
I have used both before, they are UV proof, waterproof, adhere well to AL.
I also drilled & tapped a small hole, just in case I do end up with trapped water.
The little Dart is again ready for 30mph!
