Having read on another thread about a gas fridge on a boat has made me wonder about a 'three way' caravan fridge on one. I understand that there are problems with them on gas if not level so that limits them but they can also run off 12v or mains. You can get one off eBay for > £100 so much cheaper than boat stuff. Also you could probably strip out the guts and use them in an icebox.
Has anyone done this?

I believe even if you run it on electric, they still need to be level (within about 2 degrees of plumb). Its an absorption fridge, so instead of a flame heating the ammonia, its an electric coil is the only difference.
I would go with an ice box (Cooler). I believe the key to it is to keep the melted water away from the ice as water has much better convective heat transfer properties than air. (i.e. melted water will make the remaining ice melt faster. Note, I have not done any research on this, it just makes sense in my mind)
Conversely, you could just switch to shelf stable goods and rum.
