Worrell 1000 racer
h16, h17 f18 nacra 6.0 racer
just won Buzzards Bay Regatta last week
A 60-year- old female crew member of the sailboat, which was reportedly participating in the New England 100 Regatta, a two person catamaran race, was ejected from the boat when the sailboat she was in collided with the powerboat. The woman was recovered and later pronounced dead.

Oh! I was just looking for info on this. The news popped up on my Google Alert for the word catamaran.
This is terrible and something I've worried about many times, especially passing under bridges. I'm always appalled to see power boats flying under the bridges at full speed.
I don't know that area, which bridge is this? How tall and wide?
There was just a great writeup about the first day of the regatta on Catsailor.com here https://www.catsailor.com…00-2019-30th-anniversary

It was mentioned that Sandra was a Worrell 1000 competitor. While searching for more news I found this article from 2001 where she (and another sailor too!) broke her leg during a beach landing.

Sandra Tartaglino teaming with Carol Mcveith were probably the leading team to win the upcoming 2019 Hobie 16 Worlds womans division in November. She will be sadly missed. Pete Begle -

So sad is there any consensus of what happened or is it just an unfortunate accident
