I saw a video from JoyriderTV and seems they use car tires to keep boats off the sand. Anyone else do this?
It would be for the Tornado on hot sand.

Dumb question: what is benefit of on tires vs on dry sand? Avoid sand blasting lower hull on windy days???

Exchange scratches for black marks?
Perhaps a little better load distribution to prevent point loading the hull.
If you do use tires, probably a good idea to drill some drain holes in the bottom so they don’t become mosquito breeding grounds.....

The beaches at Wildwind in Vasiliki, Greece, (where the Joyrider TV vids are shot), consist of rocks and pebbles, not sand. I would imagine that is the reason for storing their boats on tires when they are on the beach.

Yes 2 tires per pontoon and yes we cut holes in tires so water and mosquitos don't build up and yes we have a rocky shoreline hard on the feet and ankles
but it is a beautiful site The ottawa river is approx 1 mile wide at our club great sailing spot you can get to aylmer marina and brittania yatch club on a good sailing day my nacra 5.2 gets treated the same as all the club boats I constantly mutter about the rocks but got to complain about something right! -

Please call them hulls, not pontoons.
We (you and I) are multihull sailors, not multipontoon sailors...
Pontoon boats have stinky motors and propane bbq grills.
