I bought thimbles from McMaster to make a new stay. The 1/8 inch thimbles (both light and medium) are much smaller than what is currently on the Nacra. The existing parts measure and compare to 3/16 inch thimbles. The larger thimbles keeps the cable from rubbing on chain plate. Is going up 1/16 standard practice?

If the thimbles are too big the wire will stress coming out of the sleeve. This can create a break point. I've been dis-masted because of that.
