Any NACRA owners out here? Bought my boat with the mast down and mainsail rolled up. My boomlet is free of any attachments whatsoever, and the former owner said that he just “hooked the blocks on”. Every picture I see shows blocks that slide on the boomlet and have places to attach the main block hook? I’m confused here. You can email me at zenwalrus@yahoo.com if that is better. Looking forward to getting her ready!

This is a N5.5, not 5.8 but when you say boomlet I guess it’s what you have: go to 1:14 on the video and you can see how it is adjusted. The upper blocks are hooked or attached with a shackle or fast shackle to the car on the track of the boomlet. The car is pulled forward to flatten the sail with a 2:1 purchase.

Zenwalrus,
First welcome to TheBeachcats.com! The 5.8 is a powerful boat, do you have the original 5.8 or the 5.8 NA?
Let us know where you sail and you might find local help from the members.
The photo albums here have a lot of good stuff that will help you get going.

:)
I sailed very cautious that day to keep it safe for my daughter.. and keep my credibility..
That’s lake Rapel in Chile, great for cat sailing. Now I moved to the sea, with bigger waves, I just sailed a couple times so far, below 10 kts, still a bit scared to see how the real thing will be -

The early 5.8 sails didn't have the Harken traveler incorporated into the sail there was an aluminum plate with holes for adjusting the camber and the main-sheet had an S hook.
