Hello everyone I bought a Prindle 16 a few years back and it had what I thought was an extra boom attached to the bottom of the dolphin striker and secured on the underside of the tramp. Being new to sailing, I wasn't sure what it did so I took it off and stashed it. Now that I have a few seasons under my belt I'd like to figure how what the heck this thing is!
At first I thought it might be a spinnaker pole but realized it was a little short. My best guess is a Whisker pole but I haven't been able to find any info to confirm that. Also seems like it would be too long to tack n jibe in any reasonable manner as a whisker. Not sure the year of the boat. I'll attach pictures when I figure out how to
Prindle 16 Mystery Boom?

Most likely a righting pole. How was it secured to the dolphin striker?

Let me know if you want to get rid of it. Best righting system ever. http://www.discoverysaili…g-pole-installation.html
