I have just purchased a second hand Dart Hawk, and do not have experience with catamarans. The bowsprit for the asymmetrical spinnaker is bent downward by shortening the stays that connect the front tip of the bowsprit to the hulls. Also, the block for the spinnaker halyard is connected to the mast by a line of about 15", which is leashed to the mast. Accordingly, the spinnaker is 15" closer to the water when fully hoisted than it would be without the leashing, the connecting line and the bent-down bowsprit. Is there any point in this arrangement (obviously preferred by the previous owner), or I have better reset it? Sorry if the problem was not clearly stated. Thanks for any advice. -

you want some downward bend in any flexible bow sprit to prevent it from wobbling, inverting and eventually failing from all the worming around - this is typical to have some down-bend in a spin pole on a beachcat (as a rigid one would be HEAVY)
the line on your mast may not even be for/from the spin set up
there are lots of Dart owners online, find a racing group and ask for help rigging the spin for your cat, or search for the manual - OR just put the spin aside for a season and learn how to sail a cat with only 2 sails till you are ready to heat it up and fly a hull downwind
either-way, darts are great boats - enjoy -

I guess the above is sound advice. Learn the boat in stages.
