I bought an Inter 20 last season, and yesterday I removed all the tape on the fittings to replace the standing rigging and discovered a crack almost to the hole for the rigging (and an elongated hole) in the mast hound. I'm guessing it's been there for some time. Wondering if it can be repaired so I can finish the season, like with washers or something...replacement hounds are very different now from Nacra. Should I be concerned about drilling new holes and riveting the mast, or is it really just like doing it to an aluminum mast? As an aside I've tried to include a photo but couldn't make it work... -

Your post is a little confusing.
An elongated hole in the SS mast hound is normal.
"crack almost to the hole for the rigging" . . . ??
if the crack is in the mast hound take it to a welder who works with SS.

I think I have a spare mast hound but I'm not sure that you need one.

Hi Philip, I reached out to the guy I got the boat from and he actually had another one, so he's sending it to me. I'll investigate repairing the current one as well after I've removed it. Thanks for the response.
