My boat doesn't have ports - the jib block wires go from a shackle at the shrouds to the jib blocks. Is there any reason I shouldn't use 3/16" double braid line instead of having new wires made?

If keeping the system, go for Dyneema, easy to splice, as strong as stainless.

Just checked the Prindle 19 manual and I sincerely hope this is the proven system you use, p8-9?

No - it's a 16, not an 18 or 19, and it's older than the manual, which shows attachment points that don't exist. I'm only trying to have some fun, I don't care about trying to reengineer things, just want to renew what I've already got, and which works just fine for my needs. -

I would recommend the Dyneema instead of double braid. The double braid would work for bouncing around if you have it on hand. If you have to buy either, the Dyneema could be cheaper by the foot because you would need to run with 5/16" or 3/8" db. The larger db could act as a hand hold and easier to grab onto if you need it.
