Prindle 19 Mainsheet Block Replacement  Bottom

  • Hello, had a question about the Prindle 19 mainsheet block system - mine has suffered from damage from previous use and was looking to replace it. Was looking around on Murray's for different options and came across this - anyone know if this would work in particular for replacing the blocks?

Seems to be a smaller size than what the P19 originally came with, but was wondering if this would be a significant issue, as I can't find something exactly like what the original one online.

  • Not an issue, but I’d go with the 10:1. My 21 se came with 57 mm 8:1 and was “enough” but the 10:1 was way better. All on 57mm harken with 3/8 (10mm) Salsa braid line. You’ll appreciate the extra purchase.

Thanks. So the size of the sheave isn't so much a problem, as much as the actual purchase. The original P19 sheaves seem to be 75mm compared to 57mm.
  • First up, I don’t know a great deal about Pringle’s, but 75 seems like a huge block set. The larger sized pulleys make bending the line across easier and thus making effort less. However, adding another set of pulleys makes it FAR easier to sheet and hold in than larger ones. The flexibility of the line/ability to go around the blocks plays into ease as well, to a limited extent.

But back to your question- I have seen more 57mm and smaller blocks on more cats and can’t think of a time I’ve ever seen anything larger on a beach cat. It’s fine to go 57mm.

  • What part got damaged?

Look on the classifieds here and eBay you may be able to find that exact part... for less the cost..

As for going 10:1.... you don't need this if you're not racing...
