1 Broken hook and fiberglass rod

Broken centerboard hook and 3/4" fiberglass threaded rod used as backbone for hook rebuild.

2 Mark hole for drilling

File damaged area and mark for drilling. I use a dremel to route out the initial hole area (~1/4" deep)so the 3/4" drill bit will not wonder

3 hole drilled

3/4" hole drilled to ~ 3" depth along the spine

4 Rod set in fiberglass resin

Put fiberglass resin in hole ~ half full. Insert threaded fiberglass rod, twins around a little. Wipe off over spill and let set.

5 Hook wrap with rope & resin

Wrap rod with resin impregnated fiberglass rope (string) around rod to build up bulk for hook creation.

6 Hook shape marked out

Mark hook shape using other centerboard hook as template.

7 dremel shaped hook

Use dremel (or similiar tool) to shape hook. Paint with white marine epoxy or gelcoat (optional)
